Thank you to all of you that have contacted me with your concerns regarding an online shop selling clothes with my illustrations.
I would like to make it very clear that I have nothing to do with this product or company and that my illustrations were used and adapted without my consent or knowledge.
Artists need to assert their copyright in order to make a living through their work. It is very important to contact artists before using their work, and the process of commissioning existing illustrations is surprisingly easy.
I'm very grateful to all of you who choose not to buy this product because I wasn't credited and to all the active community on line out there defending my work. It's pretty overwhelming.
I was asked by the carpenter who is working at home for a quick drawing to inspire his 7 year old twin daughters. He didn't ask for anything special, just one of the many sketches I usually throw away. Then he showed me a picture of the girls looking gorgeous and told me that they spend most of their time drawing.
Because the whole flat is being remodelled, everything has been disconnected, computer, scanner, printer... So I decided to go back to the basics and use my old brushes to produce something a little more special, as a thanks for their dad's work. So I went to the local pottery shop and painted this for them.
I've been invited to publish in the latest “NEW Illustrators File vol.10” for the third consecutive year. So in case you don't live in Japan, I took some pictures for you to see. "New illustrator File" is an extensive catalogue type book that features around 100 illustrators and is one of the main references in the Japanese market.
